Nail Removal

Nail avulsion, the separation of the nail plate from the surrounding and underlying structures, is the most frequently performed surgical or nonsurgical, chemical procedure on the nail unit. It is done under local anaesthesia.
It is done either for diagnostic purpose or therapeutic to treat nail disorders.

Nail removal can be complete or partial depending upon the nail disoder.
Most common reasons for nail removal are
• ingrown toenail
• chronic onychomycosis
• traumatic nail injuries
• Pincer nail deformity
• Periungual warts
